The Lees is a lovely, well maintained piece of common ground. It is used for various boot fairs, and each September the village Goose Fair. There are a couple of things that occasionally spoil it, both due to inconsideration.

The first is dog owners who don't clear up after their dogs. Not lot REALLY makes me angry, but this does. There are a lot of children who love playing on the Lees, to have them step or fall in dog poo is just terrible. The local shop GIVES AWAY bags for poo. There are bins around specifically for poo. But people STILL allow their dogs to leave a steaming pile of mess in their wake.
The second bugbear is Quad Bikes, Motor Bikes or other loud buzzy things going up and down. Firstly this is against bye-laws, secondly it really annoys people and could be dangerous. Now, as you can tell by the rest of my comments on this site, I'm not against people being annoyed if the thing causing the annoyance benefits the village as a whole, or is a one off (private parties etc) but generally the only people benefiting in this case is the people with the loud buzzy things. I know a lot of kids who ride Quads, but they ride them on private land, have silenced 4 stroke (quiet) engines and don't cause annoyance. Anyone who says "Yes, but you're lucky we don't have anywhere for our kids to ride them, please contact me, I can recommend an Excellent Quad Bike club that meets monthly with access to 60 odd acres of woodland.
